Default low fuel light

The book says it comes on at aprox 1 gal left. Mine seems to come on closer to 2 gal left.

Do you have the bike straight up when it comes on, or do you have it on the jiffysand and tuen on the ignition and it comes on? Some one mentioned before that you have to have the bike level or the ligght comes on earlier. I have verified that.

the 06 when light comes on I have run 33 miles before and it took 4.4 when filled it up.I dont really trust the light myself think once it comes on that is the most milage I dare to go.Kinda curious once its out of fuel how low will they go with the fi?Might only be 4.5 gallons before it spits and dies?anyone here run out of fuel yet ?

Mine does the same thing. I'm always putting in about 2.7 gallons. One of these days I'm gonna bring a hobby pump. Once we stop to fuel the other bike I'm gonna run mine til it dies and then figure out the mileage for a fuel stop.
I think I like the old "switch to reserve" better.

Why would you go to all that trouble when all you have to do is figure out your mileage per gallon and mulitply by the how many gallons your tank holds. No need to run it dry.

The pickup can very a bit and not always pick up the last bit of gas in the tank.

Forget about that light, use your tripmeter.

That is why there are two tripmeters.

Reset A everytime you top it off.

Reset B when you blast off from the crib.

Can't get any easier.
