I have an 08 Deluxe and just bought HD hardbags and Cycle Visions Tail Bagger. I have to change my pipes (again) to accomodate the bags, so I am getting Samson True Duals. I figured my bike is going to be so loud compared to his Fat Bob stock pipes that I gotta do something cool for Hubby.
He's the one who said he would love the 3 Stooges airbrushed in b&w on his fender, but since that is going to be such a big deal I very casually asked him what he thought of these last night... and he dreamily said "someday..."
So I'm now conspiring with Nashua HD where our bikes are in storage for the winter. When he picks it up in Spring, he'll have a surprise. That night I'm sure I'll have something nice for me... bwaa haa haa
P.S. I never buy $300 Coach handbags... only $50 Harley purses, LOL
I got a sh*t ton of friends over at that dealership (including the parts manager, and sales manager, and misc. lackies.....so if they don't hook you up..let me know and I'll head over and give 'em all noogies or poke 'em in the eye "stooges" style...)
I have done a few paint jobs over the denim, which is nothing more than PPG high velocity clearcoat with 75% flattening agent in it from the harley factory
, the more flat the clear coat is the more and more detail will be lost in the artwork when its applied over, you would never want to have un clearcoated artwork because you could easily damage your invest with everyday wear and tear
so here is what we do, I make a custom clearcoat cocktail that is in between semi gloss and eggshell, but still gives it the old skool look, this way the art detail is visable and your paint is perfectly protected, I perfer dupont snap dry clear coat with 55% flattning agent and 10% reducer

I sent service an email with a listing of all the lowest prices I found for everything and asked them if they would be willing to price match. Haven't heard back yet, am just waiting.
If they don't wise up, I'll sic you on them until they say "Soiytently! Nyuk nyuk nyuk"

Jason did right by me on the HD bags... gave me 20% off even though it wasn't a HOG appreciation day. Right now I am dealing with Jamie whom always treat me well. Not sure if they're gonna bite on this since I found the pipe and other stuff at well below what they quoted me.
I know I can't use Macnhester against them since they are sister dealerships. Laconia eh? Hmmmm

Those two dealerships have been in a price war for a while (and we can use 'em against each other !!!)
of course, only me and you will know that right..? (oh, and the 50,000 people on this forum.)

Oh yes, they dislike Laconia Harley very much ...
They were selling Nicely equipped street gildes for 18,000 (I brought three friends down there to buy 'em)
But to use the actual denim paint from harley is this rumor...HD had to release the denim paint code to local shops in order, but they never released the proper way to bake the paint after painting. Anyone else heard about this?
No. Sounds like BS. Harley doesn't need to release anything. They don't make paint. The paint companies know how to make denim paint, and the proper way to apply it.
I've seen artwork done over denim a few different ways. The most easy, and obvious is to just use a flat clear over the whole thing. I saw one artist did a gloss clear over just the artwork (a picture of a dog). That made it look like a decal had been applied to the bike, due to the raised edge of the gloss clear. Looked good from a distance, but I didn't care for it up close. I saw one bike where the artwork was done with denims, so it was uniform between the artwork and the rest of the bike.
