Default Fat Bob - Current model vs Older Model.

Hello Dyna Riders,

I've got a FLHX. I love it, but am thinking of a Fat Bob for around town and hotrodding. I thought it dumb to hot rod my Street Glide.

SO

My question is: How many model years has the current model 2011 Fat Bob been the same for?

With the Touring redesign in 2009, I'm trying to get a used but updated model.

I think that makes sense (my question). I can't afford to go brand new, unless I'm only saving $1000...

Thanks in advance

H

I think nerly the same since its' intro for 2008. They might have changed to the helical cut 5th or 6th gear for 201 & 2011. The mid-mount foot pegs are no longer offered as an option making a little less available tight cornering performance if that is your thing (it's mine!)

Everything I know makes me agree whole-heartedly with Centerline.

I think, according to what I remember reading here, that the '08 does not have a Catalytic converter in the exhaust system. . . other years do (?)

There is NOTHING dumb about hot rodding a street glide ...

Are you going to hot rod a fat bob and then put bags on it ? (seen that alot...)

The street glide is a great bike and with some curved apes (to clear the fairing) and a thunderheader, you'll have a bad *** bike on your hands...

Well I can appreciate what you mean, I was considering a 117" upgrade but thought that might stress other components.

I want to keep reliability and the fuel economy reasonable while on longer trips.

Besides, the dual headlight is pretty cool. I had the chance to demo a 120R Fat Bob. That dealer knew what he was doing...

But it is just an idea nonetheless.

Thanks
H

The Street Glide is a hotrod touring bike. Looks great, probably the best looking of all tourers HD builds.
I think there was a Fatbob model built in the 40's. Not 100% sure the decade but there was one built.

I believe Centerline is right. Other than mid controls and the gear change I have not heard of changes to the FatBob. I own a 2009 that I bought in 08, forward controls and loving it. That thing is a dream. Every time I go for a ride I just get a big smile from start to finish. I get in the web and look for changes that I could do to it, this and that, or I want apes or pipes or whatever, and then I ride it. Stock with only the mandatory cosmetics and the fking thing reminds me of why I ride. You would not regret this bike, doesn't matter the year. If you can find a fool selling this thing, specially now that its getting cold and some of the "less hardcore guys" go into hibernation, take it from their hands as fast as you can say "got you".

I do know that the frame got a revision in 2010, but that might have just been a slight modification so the frame would support both Fat Bob and Wide Glide models.
