The stealership quoted me over 1100 bucks for some 16" apes and install. Went to the local Indy shop and he quoted me just under 500 for the bars and install WTF!! I'll never take my bike to the stealership for anything again.
I was quoted around $325-$395 from different stealerships in my local area.
Under $500 isnt bad if thats with bars. Get the burly brand cable/wire kit. Just got mine in today so I can get my new 16''s apes on.
Or you can post in your local area needed help on install. I had a guy offer his skills to help me. Just have to get our schedules aligned. Learning experience, meeting another HD guy and saving a lot of money.
For something like bars, I don't see a reason to go anywhere for installation.
I wish I could get people to pay me 500 bux to do a handlebar install! Lets see
Bars 100 bux
Grips 50 bux
Risers if need 50 bux
$$ for me to tinker in garage for a while 300 bux!!!! I would do bar installs all day every day. Instead I get the old hey buddy can ya help me and I end up doin everything for nuthin but a headache.
No offense to anyone but unless its an M4 or any other weapon, i got no skills when it comes to mechanical applications, so putting bars on my self would be suicidal!!! LOL
It would be nice if you had someone near you that could guide you through the install….It’s not that painful if you’re just installing plain apes, internal wires, clutch, and throttle.

A few years ago I was in the same boat. I bought a service manual then spent about a full day swapping out the bars and integrated riser on my VROD. I started getting more confident working on my bike after that. It takes a little longer, but you will feel more connection to your bike as well as a sense of pride if you do it yourself. If you mess it up, you can call over someone who knows more than you or you can trailer it to a mechanic.
Is the indy price for everything and install or just the bars and install? Are these quotes with internal wiring? $500 for everything isn't bad if you really look at it...bars, cables and extensions alone are probably around $400, but the dealer is just plain nuts! When I did my street slammers I was quoted 6hrs on labor alone which I thought was crazy at $65/hr. I ended up doing it myself which took about 3hrs and that was with the wires ran internally.

@ Red devil, 500 for everything. The shop is like half a mile away so I'll give it a shot myself, if I fck it up it will be on the trailer to the shop.
@ Shaved Ice, bro haven't heard the term Fayettenam since the mid 90's when i was in the deuce. The Murk must be out of control now.
In my neck of the woods it's 1500 dollars for the bars, steel braided cables and labour. At an indy here he quoted me 2500 for the whole deal, thats mirrors and chromed out controls also.
