I picked up my bike on Saturday from my local dealer after having the IPB replaced. HD covered half the labor and all of the parts. While they were in there I had them replace my stator/rotor with the '07 version, they also took out the mid control shifter shaft and installed a forward control model wrinkle black outer primary cover. My original rotor was the 2 piece bolted unit but all of the bolts were there and tight. It surprised me, but it gives me piece of mind to have that ticking time bomb replace. All in all, the noise I had from the primary is gone so I'm happy with it.
i just finished doing this job for my buddy on thursday. i think total he ended up spending 325 for parts, a 30 pack of coors light and some smokes for me haha
I would have to be completely sedated to deal with my scooter being at the dealer. I did the Screamin Eagle compensator/Clutch Spring along with the said upgrades. Total cost was right around 400 smackers and I did the labor.
What noise did you have from the primary. I am having some noise from mine and trying to figure out what it could be. I haven't taken off the cover yet. Just trying to figure out if the noise you had is similar to the noise I am experiencing.
Well, the bike has been in the shop for a week now and they found out what the noise was... They thought it was a lifter that was loose (noise was coming from the engine not the primary). But in the diagnostic time they found that the oil pump was shot and are replacing it tomorrow (took 5 days to get a new pump in). Anyone else ever have their oil pump fail? Guess there is reason to have an oil pressure gauge.
I never got any light nor did it ever throw any codes. Well hoping to get my bike back tomorrow and hoping not to have any more problems with the bike for a while.
Glad they figured out the problem. I'm surprised that you had no signal from the down pump. Usually there's some indicator saying things like that are dead.
yeah, I don't know why I never got codes, but I think they were saying it was only failing at times and at other times it appeared to be working... They still said it was broke and replaced it, everything else appeared fine. I specifically asked about the lifters and they said they were fine. Thankfully I had and Extended Service Plan and all the work only cost me $50. It was like getting off for free. Now that I have ridden it for a few days I can say that the tapping noise is gone. I will be making a ride to my brother's place for Thanksgiving and it will be a 5 hour ride so will really see how it works then (noise-wise, heat-wise and oil consumption-wise).
