Its those bloody wierd "sleeved" bolts on the front rotors I can't find in 12-point. Im eventuntually gonn replace the wheels anyway so I guess I can live with 5 of those pesky torx bolts until then.
I think you're looking for socket shoulder bolts. I tried to find out the bolt specs (3966m) from my parts manual but no joy. If you can get all the specifications together, diameter, thread pitch, shoulder diameter, etc, the web site that Rene sent you should be able to hook you up. I personally would go with Grade 8 if I couldn't find specs on the factory bolts, because of the heating.
True too. I like wrenching on my ride and am always in the middle of some modification or other. My bikes are never "finished" so Im always tinkering with them. For me, I like the notion of always Knowing I just need to turn to me SAE wrenches or Allens (or mm version for some things like the forks).
Plus, my bike tool kit is made smaller when on the road.
Come on! surely someone out there has De-Toxed ...opps De-Torxed their 2007 or 08 fxd!!!
Yes I did(06FXDBI) and I was one of the first on here to do it....hate the fricken torx POS
Interesting, I have not had one problem with the torx head screws and the only ones I have heard of problems are the derby cover ones and mainly due to using the wrong size torx bit. The only screws I have had problems with are the S.S. Allen button head bolts that hold the right side front fork axle cap on and the S.S. Allen button head bolt for the belt guard, both started to round off and I replaced them.
