I just picked up a 2011 Street bob. I put Vance and Hines short shots, power commander, and a air cleaner. I got a great deal from Fuel Moto by the way. I now have two problems. First is that the pipes make it a pain to check the oil it seems like they are a half an inch too far to the rear, blocking the oil cap. Second issue is now that the mods are done I think I have brought down my fuel mileage. What are is everyone else getting for a tank of gas? Any help or ideas would be great.
I think my wife's 1.8L Turbo Jetta get better gas milage then my SB and I haven't even made an A/C, fuel management or exhaust mod yet.I get between 150-180 a tank, 200+if I am on the highway countinuosly.
My 06 SB with a thunderheader, hi-flow and powercommander III gets around 33mpg. If I don't fill up by 150 miles I'm pushing the bike to the nearest gas station. On strictly freeway trips, I almost hit 39 mpg.
2010 SB with V&H Big Radius pipes, V&H Naked V02 intake, and V&H FuelPak. I average right around 43mpg with all kinds of riding. As far as the oil cap goes it's harder to get it out then when the stock pipes were on it but not imposable.
I've got Samson Legend pipes, K&N AC and a SERT and manage 40 mpg around town, 50 on the hwy. Use a kevlar glove to get to the oil cap. Try something like the Ov Glove.
Had a gas milage issue with VH exhausts before, but if it's mapped correctly the milage should suffer too bad..
But lower gas milage would be the ultimate result as you've beefed up air induction and output.
I really don't know how many miles I get though.
