Ok, so I have had a few people ask me about how I did my mid peg mod.
Here you go!!!
I took a stock set of pegs, I removed all the rubber and cut the end off (the RED line in the pic). Then I ground / belt sanded the cut off section until it was flat at the round shoulder (the BLUE line). I then put the pivot point in a vise with the flat side I just ground down faceing up. I located the center of the flat round section and drilled a hole using (I believe) an (H) drill .266" then tapped the hole (again, I believe) using a 5/16-18NC tap. (the GREEN part of the pic). I drilled and tapped the hole all the way through to the pivot hole ( the screw will not go this deep, but it does give you a clean tap.
I then purchased to more shifter pegs that went with the peg set I am running. Stock shifter pegs will also work. I installed the shifter peg to the modified peg I just made and all was good.
I have put on over 10k miles on the bike since I made this mod. I haven't had a single issue with the set up.
I will post some pics of the peg fully broke down, piece by piece when I get home tonight so everyone can see how all the parts look.
It looks to small and out of place or you must have very small feet ?
Word!!! The reason I went witht the shorter peg is because I was using stock pegs at first and often would hit them when I pulled my feet of the forwards and put them on the ground when coming to a stop. It's not fun when your legs is moving backwards as your bike is rolling forward and your legs gets cought by the rear peg. With them being shorter my leg naturally goes past the peg without interference. I just hook my heel over the peg and let my foot hang off the peg, so I don't need the extra 2" of peg for that. Also, I am able to place my heel on the mid peg and rest the front of my foot on the forward peg. So basicly I have three positions I can move my feet between when riding. And yes is I do have small feet, but I can't do much about that now can I!!!!
