I am interested in running an 18" wheel after a v-rod dual disc conversion and was looking for options. I've done some searching, but I'm not having much luck. 21" and 19" are by far more popular.
I have seen some V-Rod aftermarket 18" wheels but those are a bit pricey. In my search I found someone (tireater) who built an 18" wheel using the street bob hub. Anyone else do this and can point me in the right direction for the rim and spokes? Anyone know of some cheaper (<$400) price 18" wheels that accept dual discs?
One of my motorcycle mags (forget which one but I will look it up) just ran an article on a street bob all stock wheel and straight bolting up a dual disc setup. No mods besides straight bolting it together. Just another option if ya want a cheaper dual disc setup
I did a search for that, looks like Hot Bike Dec '10 issue? They are converting theirs to a Fat Bob front end, and although they seem to be saying that it fit right on, members on this forum had spacing issues. The vrsc lowers were easier to find aftermarket, and since they already use the same spacing in other ways as the fxd/b/c there is less concern of spacing issues. In any case, I've already got the bulk of the parts to convert to dual disc with the brembo brakes. I have a street bob spoked wheel that I could run and it would work fine. The mention of the dual disc conversion is mostly just so that in reference to the wheel, it is out there that I need it to accept dual discs (a single disc wheel would do me no good).
At this point I have not contacted Buchanan's, though that may be the route I have to go. I was hoping someone else had decided to run an 18" wheel and could provide some feedback on the route they took, the cost and how they liked it.
