I am not fond of the bobbed rear fender on the Wide Glides. It's wasnt' a deal breaker for me, but I was curious what it would take to put a fender like the other dynas on my wide glide.
I think you'll need new fender struts and a new brake light setup and maybe new wiring.
I didn't see anything on HD's website except for the convertion to a bob-tail fender.
No a terribly hard changeover. Ensure holes for struts and lights line up. Tail light should fit new fender. Probably need to get the rubber mounting piece for the tailight. Re-route wires and you should be good. The most time consuming is running the wires.
I did the opposite. At one time I put the bobtail on my dyna lowrider. I only had to purchase the light bracket (plastic) that goes under the fender. Let me know if you need specifics when you decide to make the switch. Good luck.
It's your's to decide but I think your bike looks great. What year is it? I have an 01 with the older shorter bobbed fender. I really like the fenders on the 06-07s. It's longer and really stretches the bike out. I keep a boss trunk bag on mine so you can't see much of it anyway.
I don't get it...I think the bob fender is one of the coolest things on a wide glide...especially since they changed them in 06. That said, to each his own. Honestly, a standard Dyna fender on a wide glide does look cool.
I can't help with the installation, but there was someone on this board who posted pics about 8 months - year ago after they did the conversion. It just so happens that I saved the picture. Here's a picture of that bike. Don't remember who it was, but I'm sure if they're still on this board, they'll chime in.

anyone know?
Yeah scotch, only takes money. Should be bolt off, bolt on.
What year model WG?? Need to know.
I put the 06WG bobtail on my 06SuperGlide. Didn't like it.
06WG fender now for sale.
Here's a picture of the bike that had changed to the "regular" Dyna(06) fender:
Thanks for the info Mud. I don't really need it but I thought I would inquire. After looking at the picture of your bike with it mounted, I thought it looked good. But then again I'm a WG fan. Hope the sale goes well. Eric
