Dropped by my my friends house to check on my bike yesterday. Well it has wires hanging where the headlight's supposed to be, wires hanging where the rear turn signals are supposed to be, and wires hanging out where the console's supposed to be. DAMN it looks bad right now! Woke up and it 29 degrees outside. Oh well, after I hit the gym, all parts that are off to get powdercoated! It will be my work of art when it's done. I'm so ready for spring and winter's not even began!
I grew up in Ohio and remember building bikes through the winter and waiting for spring/summer. Every now and then I dig out the old photos of bikes and parts in the living room of the apartment I shared back then with my best friend. Growing up and living there, this was simply the norm. Barely aware that anything different even existed.
Then I moved to California in my late 20's. Looking back, one of the best things I've ever done. I do miss the friends and family back in Ohio and it's nice to visit once or twice a year, but I can't imagine living there full-time after being in California since 1980.
When I read these stories about all you guys putting the bikes up for the winter, and the winter projects, and looking forward to warmer weather, I've been there and I feel for you.
Well once this project's done I'll be starting my next adventure. Throwing up some 14" wild 1's powdercoated ape hangers. All a little bit at a time. I'm a firefighter/ paramedic and this HD addiction is worse than any drug I've ever seen in 20 years on the street. Only kicker..I'm the one hooked!
