WOA...damn I am glad you are still with us! Thanks for your kind words....and thanks to everyone else for their thoughts. Yeah even though I know we all do it (I laid my first bike down way back in '86 and had a clean record since then), it is a blow to the psyche. But I guess it's always good to get your bubble burst - is the injuries aren't too bad. I'm sure it'll make me a more focused rider.

Joe,

Yeah, that sucks even more ...but you reminded me - I neglected to thank a random good Samaritan.

SO I dropped in front of one of those low income medical centers, and a clerk named Tony came out to check if I was OK. With the damages to the bike and my ankle, he said I shouldn't be riding, and since I have road side assistance and towing from my Insurance Co, I just called them. Well Tony helped me push the bike into his parking lot, even asked his boss to let me put it in a little sheltered area they had on their property, just in case it didn't work out with the tow.

Turns out Tony is a rider as well, sport bikes, but a rider. You better believe I thanked him up and down. Man he really helped me out and I want to send out another THANKS! I think we always have to show appreciation when the universe throws us a bone. :-)

I bought my Fat Bob brand new in March and laid it down on a freshly painted white stripe. It had been pouring and the group I was riding with finally decided to get off the road. The bike had about 2000 miles on it. The worst damage was the dent to the tank which cost 400.00 to fix and that was with me taking it off myself. The main reason it no longer has badges on the tank is that those would have been 120.00 extra. I think it looks fine without them. I've since put about 13000 more miles on it and love riding it to work even with the strange looks i get since the temperature dropped.

That does suck about your bike. Glad you are ok. Several years ago I bought a new bike. Had 26 miles on it. Pulled up to a red light at 5 in the morning. Light turned green. I pulled out and leaned into a left turn. Was going just as slow and easy as you please. Back tire hit something and slid out from underneath me. Bike slid to curb. I hit the road. Only good thing was at least no one saw it. I limped it back home and drove truck into work that day. You are right, it happens to us all.

That sounds sooooo familiar.

I hesitated to put anything up here about my mishap, but now I'm glad I did. It helps a bit to know that what happened to me seems to be familiar to everyone.

THANKS! again to all for your concern and kind words. Now it's time to get ideas for new pegs and mirrors and derby covers.....

Thanks Again,

I hear you on the bars. I will be checking alignment as a first step.

Here's hoping you continue your streak!
