Another vote for Avon's. I have a Venom up front and a Storm on the rear. I will never go back to the stock Dunlops. Tire wear seems to be about the same as a Dunlop but the bike rides much nicer with the Avons.
I got just under 6000 on my rear metzler. I love the way they ride and handle but I'm going to be looking for another tire if I don't get more mileage out of the new one I put on. I bought my bike in March and have over 15000 miles on it so far so I can't afford to be putting more then two new rear tires on a year.
coke or pepsi, ford or chevy, republican or democrat, avon or metzeler..the debate rages on. I've had both brands on a few different bikes and honestly I never really noticed any difference between the two aside from aesthetics. Personally I like how the 880's look over the venoms but aside from that either one is light years ahead of the dunlops so no matter what you'll be happy.
Running Avon Venom-X 110/90-19 up front and Avon Storm ST 2 Ultra 170/60ZR17 back..can only recommend them
The Storm ultra 2 rear tire has two compounds, harder in the cntr for wear and softer on the edges for grip as can be seen in pics of the tire on my SB.
I changed both my skins on my Dyna after 605 miles and the front tire split a cord.
I went with Bridgestone Battle Axe tires.
When my Sporty needs skins, Ill be putting them on it too.
Darn good rain tires, and it do rain here
I went with Metz 880s and have absolutely no grip complaints. My cousins all run Avons and they say they feel like the wet weather grip is not up to par with the Metz 880s. The Metzelers will take longer to heat up and gain full traction than the Softer Avons.
Avon's in fact I have a new Avon VENOM AM41 110/90H19 Front
- Unique sequential pattern produces exceptionally quiet ride
- Advanced Casing technology for low rolling resistance, cooler running, and high mileage
- Special sidewall treatment features snake head logo and both narrow and wide white wall
- Multiarc tread contour for light, neutral turn in and cornering stability
It is still in the mailing wrapping. Bought it to have a spare in case, and sold my bike this spring. It is yours for $65 plus shipping. I paid $111 new plus shipping. PM if interested.
