I think it depends how you like the position of the apes. If you are taller and like them rollrd forward I would go with the gangsters. If you like them pulled back then go with the flying apes that way the lower section is inline with the forks and then curves either forward or backwards.
I have to agree - I have seen the Flyin on a wide glide and think that neither would complete the look you are going for. Yes, the are a sweet product but seem to look more at home on road king or other similar ful fender bikes. A more traditional set would really look amazing on your bike. But again, just my opinion. Do what you gotta do!
Hmmmm, well don't like the original style apes, wanted evil apes for a long time and talked myself out of them. Maybe I better put some more thought into this.
I am kind of on the fence WRT Carlini Gangster/Flyin apes ... can take 'em or leave 'em ...
That said, I thought the 14" Flyin' apes on 'My Beer Belly's' Street Bob look pretty good ... I would recommend going with them if you are going to get some Carlinis ....
Thanks everyone, I ended up buying 13" 1.250 dia gangster apes black. I did not want to go high and these should only put me a few inches above stock. They did not have flying apes black and no longer offer them. I took the easy way out. I'm curious now what I'll have to do, wires might be long enough but cables and brake line probably going to need changed?
Edit: Scratch all that, Carlini just called and im now getting 1.5" dia 16" gangster apes, what the hell, just going to do it, if i bolt them on and step back and look at them and dont like them i will just sell them and try something else.
Now i know i will have to extend everything.
