I like the looks of that sissy bar, alot! I want to modify the rear fender of my 03 FXDWG and that type of sissy bar is on my list of stuff to do at the same time. What's the part number and do you think it would fit on my FXDWG. If it won't fit I may be able to do the same thing you did.
T.O.N.Y,
Not sure if you saw the post I just quoted. I was wondering if you could give me some info on the sissy bar.
The HD sissy bar that I have on my bike wasn't supposed to fit my SB either. I just went to a local hardware store, bought some chrome washers and longer bolts. I put the mounting hardware on the outside of the washers and VIOLA...it fits!
T.O.N.Y.T, it looks like you may have stumbled on to something. You might want to expect to get a lot of questions thrown your way from sissy bar fanatics like myself. Great job, your bike looks awesome!
Hey guys, the part number of the sissy bar is 51161-10. In the 2010 catalogue (pg. 146), it's in the Dyna section so I knew I could make it fit. As far as fitting the WG, it should be a go! The reason I needed spacers is that the SB fender is thinner than the WG models. You may not need spacers like I did.
continued....The catalogue states that Wide Glide models require seperate purchase of Docking Hardware kit pt#54097-10 and Turn Signal Relocation Kit pt#53968-06C.
And I can't speak about your '07 SB, but I put on an original equipment '10 WG sissy bar on my '08 SB and it was rather easy. The salesman at the local dealership was a big help in getting me the part (it's not in the accessories catalog, it's in the original parts catalog).
HD Street bob THANKS!!!! Ive taken the strut covers off my bob... Im assuming the side plates mount between the struts and fender? What if any mods did you need to do to make it fit? And do I dare ask what it cost since its a dealer part? Thanks....
You are right, it fits right between the fender and struts - and no mods were needed! But remember, mine is an '08 (I'm not 100% sure if the frames are the same between the '07 and the '08). If the frames are the same, it should fit very easily.
Cost? It was actually very, very reasonable! I think I paid around $100-125 or so.
