As i've stated on other posts before your warranty is only as good as your dealer/service writer. Never had a dealer say that doin the fluid changes myself would void the warranty BUT, they all say to definitely save the receipts for proof. I recently learned this the hard way. My dealer that i had been using exclusively since purchasing my bike suddenly claimed several things were not under warranty and said i would have to pay. I called the warranty co myself and they said "why of course thse repairs are covered". I confronted the service writer, owner, mechanic, everyone i could find. They apologized and tried to kiss up but i told them they had 30 minutes to get my bike put back together cause i was on my way to pick it up! It was waitin outside ready to go. I've since found a new dealer that covers pretty much everything.
There is absolutely nothing you can do to the bike that voids the warranty UNLESS that mod directly contributes to the damage to the bike. If you have someone telling you differently read your warranty, and then go up the chain with it.
My thought was how could you prove that it didnt make it run to lean, run spark intermittently or anything that a computer can mess with. I wasnt going to take the risk for the extra couple bucks.
Your owners manual has a place to sign-off on each required service interval. Besides keeping receipts for all service-related items, I keep a separate log (small automotive pocket-book) which includes: location, date, mileage, & amount of fuel purchased.

Want to buy a slightly used PVC?
How much do you want for your PCV? and did you buy it through fuelmoto?
Thanks ya'll. Great advice from everyone....Like one of you guys said...I want to get to know my bike as well as possible and really look forward to doing some work on it myself. Records and receipts...sound advice to follow
I had the dealer do the 1000 mile service, and go to an Indy for all major work now. I kinda gave up on the whole warrenty thing when I had pipes and stuff done last winter. I do totally agree with keeping a log though, and saving reciepts. All my work is written down in my service manual. Oil changes and regular PM are all mine
