Default 2009 Street Bob Compensator Upgrade

I've searched around the forums and can't find the info I'm lookin for.

Ok guys, so is there a smaller compensator sprocket with chain on the market for the 2009 Street Bob? If so where can I get one cause I've searched the net and nothing. I know they are out there for the earlier models, but did Harley do something to '09's that different compensator sprockets can't be put on to gain more torque?

Thanks for the help.

Default comp.sprocket

Google "Evolution Industries 30 tooth sprocket". I think bout $300.00 for a kit.

Keep in mind if you change the comp. spocket - you actually loose the compensator function. Myself, I changed the tranny output from 32T to 30T. I believe it is the same results just a different method. However, it will throw your speedo off a little - I bought a aftermarket module to adjust the speedo but know I have a TTS and can recalibrate speedometer. It's all good either way you do it.

This looks interesting. What is the up or downside of loosing the compensator? Also wondering if this wouldn't eliminate the speedo issue?

From what I read and understand:

Compensators are designed to smooth out the lull between cylinders firing. It attempts to smooth out the torque created when each cylinder fires and the slight gap before the other cylinder fires.

Newer models have moved up to using a grade better than stock, an SE model, which was designed for the higher torque of a modified engines, and is now used on the 103s and the 110s.

So when you say smaller you mean a lower ratio for higher torque right?

I used the Screamin Eagle compensator and would highly recommend using this with the smaller front pulley if you want a gearing change. The SE compensator is way better than that sloppy stock junk that was on my bike. My 06 already has the low pulley gearing so I didnt change them. I never felt the need for any lower gearing than what my bike came with, but that stock compensator was killing me from day one. Felt like a rubber bando drive! Now with the SE compensator, upgraded primary tensioner, SE clutch spring and Baker IPB my primary works as intended. Nice and tight, no slip and with the Metz 880 fatty out back plenty o grip. Its a holeshot monster now.

This here http://www.goldengatecycles.com/dlri...OCKET+KITS.htm
Looks like it replaces the compensator altogether and lowers the gearing quite a bit.So from what I'm reading it looks like this could be done for around $315 not counting labor .What I really want to know is how that compares with a 30T front pulley and the new belt that it looks like you would need with it.When you throw in the SE compensator that everyone seems to be recomending this is looking like a more cost effective solution.

eeter,

I was wondering are running a belt or chain secondary?

Ed,

Page shows an EVO part ... Do you have an EVO in your Bob?

Not sure I feel the Evo needs to run 600 or 700 RPMs higher to maintain the same speeds with the change over (conversion chart). Maybe a better power band for your cam? Stock I believe there is better bottom end torque. Wouldn't no compensator means an odd feel? I would think more of a the rubber band feel with out a compensator. Maybe not?
