I hear it's a Liberty Edition, super clean and very original except for the pipes.

It's an 86 fxrc. I wondered about the special numbering on the dash. #188 of 1200 something. It's some sort of collector edition bike. I ride not collect. It belongs to a buddy of mine who asked me. any info is greatly appreciated.

Here's a little bit of information from the internet…

"FXRC Low Glide Custom
HD Continues To Work Towards The Completion of This Previous Offering From 1985 With The Conclusion Of 1250 Units However These Units Featured A Different Paint Scheme ie: Red. These Units Were Also Identified By Their Numerical Order With A Inscribed Plate At The Location Of The Handlebars. It should be noted that HD never placed this particular model in any of it's sales/brochure literature".

I remember when these motorcycles first came out in '86, both this model FXR and the Sportster had a special "liberty edition" to commemorate the restoration of the Statue of Liberty in the summer of 1986. I remember these bikes in the H-D dealerships when I was kid, going in my with ol' man to get parts for his bike or to just shoot the **** with the guys at the shop.

This model year for the Sportster was the first for the Evo and the only year for the 1100, the next year and up were 1200cc. An image of the statue is on the tank from the factory, but not sure if they are a numbered limited edition, like my friend's '85 FXRC.

Do these motorcycles have a higher value than any other Evo FXR or XL..? No, most likely not, other than to someone that is specifically looking for an '86 liberty edition that might want to pay a lil more for it...

Cool bike...let us know how it works out for you.
