when i got my 98 superglide the tank trim panel was all messed up, faded and chipped etc. i went to the dealer for a take off but they gave me an old lowrider dash... its too long and leaves a little gap at my tank. not to mention its faded too. wish i had known better a the time, opbviously the part guy didn't.
harely only offer this piecelinkylink. im not too wild about chorme. some places its fine, but for the dash, i think i would rather have the stock black. i think the glare would suck. anyway, what can i do. can the stock part be found? its not ont he website. anyone else replacd this trim piece?
You should be able to remove and refinish it if you want, I agree chrome there is not good, had the same problem and installed the dashinator on a WG and it took care of it. Maybe a textured (wrinkle) finish in flat black from a rattle can would do it?
Dashinators are a HD item, and are in the HD catalog. They are available for the FXDWG, but not the FXD.
The parts department at your local dealership should be able to order you a replacement. It will be in the parts book, not the catalog.
If you have problems, let me know, and I'll find a part number for you with my local dealer. The main parts guy and I have a good working relationship.
