Will any top clamp work with this, although i think i do want the idiot ligt set up..thanks agian...great help

No ... you have to use the one (clamp) shown in either diagram above with the accompanying risers ... else the speedometer will not mount as shown ....

One last question...will the stock cables work too...and a stock top clamp.

(1) your stock cables should have enough play in them to work with the Sportster riser setups pictured in this thread ...

(2) as for the top clamp, the answer is it depends on which setup you are going with ... if you go with the 2004-later then, NO ... the speedometer bracket is integrated into the top clamp; if you are going with the 2003-earlier setup, then it is a definite MAYBE ... the speedometer bracket is a separate part that fits (between the riser and / or above) the top clamp ... but, from the diagram, it almost appears as though the underside of the top clamp has a relief to accomodate the thickness of the speedometer bracket ...

CAVEAT ... I have no personal experience with either of these systems ... hopefully someone who does will chime in definitively ...

... study the photos a little better and the parts diagrams in post #7 ....

edit: after looking at the photos in post #2, it appears the 2003-earlier speedo bracket mounts atop the top clamp ...

Thanks again..i have a chance to buy the risers used at a fairly good deal $50...si i think i'll get it and try to find the clamp with just the idiot lights..so i can get of the light brow and relocate my head light..thanks much
