I have a 2006 Dyna Lowrider (FXDLI) that suddenly started cutting off on occasion when downshifting and throttle nears 1000rpm. It always restarts while in motion. Also, the speedo is wacky and fluctuating back and forth from 0 to my max mph. These things happen on occasion.....not all the time. Have had it to the harley dealer twice and they checked the crank position sensor and the speedo sensor and all is fine there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Harley Dealer is baffled in NC!

 

Do you have an mods on the bike, if so what is done? Is this possibly only happening when you are low on fuel, what fuel level are you at when this happens? Did they go over the ignition setup as well?

 

my ignition switch went out and the bike would die but it was random and didn't have anything to do with rpms. I would still check the switch. mine would cut power if i giggled it

 

I'd check the battery connections and the cables themselves. Particularly where the lugs are swaged to the cables. Sounds like a power loss somewhere. Had a Sporster where the batt cable corroded under the insulation at the terminal lug and was literally coming apart.
