2005 Night Train (EFI) that while starts to surge, the speedo goes nuts, and bike dies. Once I coast to a stop the bike will start again after turning everything off. I have not tried to start it again without cycling the ignition switch. I have checked all the grounds, battery is a little older but still holding a charge at 12.xx. Replaced all the fuses and relays. Checked for codes: none. Fuel tank is topped off so I don't think that it is the fuel lines inside the pump. Can anyone offer any advice?
My dyna did the exact same thing even the speedometer going crazy. I know you said you checked the battery connections but that's what was wrong with mine. I checked and tightened a couple of times but until I actually took them clear loose, cleaned and reinstalled it actually cured my problem. By the way mine turned out to be the ground. Good luck
happened to me once in the middle of the Navada desert on the way to Las Vagas, would run bute then speedo would go nuts an the bike would surge then die, happened a few times then died completely thought I would be sleeping with the coyotes. Anyways each time i checked fuses battery terminals everything was fine then by chance the last time after it died an i couldnt get it going at all i by chance happened to pull on the earth cable from the battery to the frame an the cable pulled out from the lug that bolted to the frame. It had broken of in the eart lug and looked perfectley ok but was momentarily pulling apart an loosing contact then re-establising contact. luck iI had a length of wire made a temporary bridge from the battery an everything was ok. So maybe u have a simular problem with one of your grounds or power leads/wires hope this helps
I pulled the battery completely out and cleaned the terminals and reinstalled it.
The speedo is all over the place....up and down. Unfortunately, I was more focused on getting out of traffic than the erratic behavior of my speedometer. Next time! lol
Its the neg battery ground... seen it a couple of times before... takes more than the grab the cable and wiggle seems tight test... always looks good, but take it off clean and re-attach both ends of the neg bat cable anyway... and make sure good & tight...
[QUOTE=oct1949;10631664]Still having issues or did U get her fixed???
No! Not yet, checked my grounds like I did before...still as tight and clean as they can be. So i took it for a spin today. Died 15 times! I am not exaggerating at all! So for a few minutes all was well and then she fell on her face. Tried giving it gas every time she started cutting out but with no avail.
