So what gives with HD. In 1980-81 HD made the nicest bike ever the Lowrider in "Sturgis" colors, limited production and mean as hell looking. Loved the bike when I first saw it in the showroom. At the time I was 14 and still living under mom and dads roof ( lets not forget the rules to.) Ten years later I'm living in Vancouver struggling to make ends meet and I walk into Trev Deeleys and what do I see but this awsome Sturgis ride reborn for one year (can't aford it again). This is got to be the rarest bike ever. Hard to find them and never see one on the streets. In all my travels over the years I have yet to see one. So here is my question. Will HD bring it back some day soon. Its been 15 years. I'd trade my softail for one if they brought it back and kept the number of bikes made to a minimum like the last two introductions. Any thoughts or rumors out there.
Sorry..no rumors..but I'll agree..those bikes were very VERY cool looking. I especially liked the first one. The second one had some strange orange bits that weren't on the first one...like on the top/bottom of the shocks, rocker boxes, brake calipers, and fork dust covers. Still a very nice lookin bike..but the early 80s version would be the one I'd like to get my hands on (with the '91 version's evo motor)
I used to own the 81 Lowrider. I did like the color, but the previous owner didn't take care of the bike all that well and the paint looked crappy. Bought it in Arizona from a guy who moved here from Boston. I have some photos of what I did to it, and Ill post them after I get home and scan them into the PC. I have to say, that old 80" shovel ran like a mother, and you couldn't stop it from running either.
