Too loud? I used to have those and the best sound I got from them was with the BCT QQ baffles. Much deeper sound. You didn't say why you don't like your setup, but cutting the stock baffles will make them louder and might not run as well. I don't think that wrapping the pipes will affect how they sound, but I may be wrong.

It just doesnt have that sound I'm looking for? Yes it is loud and you are right,by cutting them it will make them louder which will make them sound like **** and have tuning issues, Just curious on the "glass-pak" sound? or a diffrent baffle?
Nevil, I'll look into the BCT QQ baffles, thanks

Maybe try and pin the flapper valve back with some wire, did so to mine makes a worthwhile difference.

Do you have the standard baffles or the quiet baffles in them? I've had both and really like the sound of the quiet baffles better. They deepen the note and don't quiet it much.

I have the same year and right after the 1K break-in I put Khrome Werks 3" HP Plus slip-ons on. A little quite on idle but have a very deep tone (folks have commented on that). When I get on it and at speed they sound very nice. Fairly cheap too. Very interesting baffel design. Check out the site. http://www.khromewerks.com/
