Default My little experience...

For those of you not familiar with the Houston area, 225 is a bustling run of freeway between 146 in La Porte and Loop 610 in Houston. It is pretty much a run of freeway that has nothing but Oil Refinerys and Chemical Plants. It's a high speed death trap full of 18 wheelers and rough patches of road with a ton of rocks, broken boards bits of shredded tire and all kinds of fun stuff to hit you while you ride to and from work at one of the said refinerys.
On Sat afternoon while heading home from work on good old 225, I had a fun experience. There I was in the fast lane doing around 75mph when I decided to check my right mirror and change lanes. When I looked back up there was a large brown object heading directly for me. I can only assume it came out of the back of the truck that was in front of me. It appeared to be a large sheet of ply wood measuring around 3ft x 4ft. In the split second before it came down on me I was preparing to either get ripped off my bike or have my head taken off. I ducked my head a little and prepared for the impact that was already happening...
It was then that the object wrapped around my chest and covered up about half of my full face helmet. My ply wood ended up being a large peice of cardboard!!! I screamed like a little bitch, felt relieved and ripped it from my chest with my left hand and sent if careening down the freeway. I took the first exit I could and pulled into a gas station, where I promptly cut the bike off, dismounted and tried to stop hyperventilating while making sure that my bowels hadn't released their contents into my favorite riding jeans... After I calmed down and got back on the road I had to laugh and share the story... The Street Bob handled great, the rider did not... Hope this at least makes my fellow Dyna riders laugh

Ouch, sounds like a real brown trouser moment.

Cardboard or not, well done on keeping it upright!

Man....glad you're ok. Sure it would have scared any of us. You had no way of knowing what it was in that short amount of time.

Glad our ok. Sounds like you handled it right not over reacting, which is against human nature seeing something like that coming at you.
