Default Installing Rush Pipes

Just got Rush 2.25 slip-ons for my 2011 wide glide. How easy is it to install these bad boys? Can any doofus like myself do it? Know of any videos? What tools do I need? Dealer wants $100 to install. help!

Slip ons should be "easy"

I use quotes because the term "slip-on" seems to indicate that they should slide on and off with little effort. Generally, they don't. That said it just takes a lot of effort to get them off (and usually a little less to get them on) but as far as the technical difficulty they are very easy to do. You have a clamp where they mount to the head pipes and then usually a couple screws where they mount to the bracket. That's about it.

Good choice in slip-ons! As already mentioned the swap-over is very straightforward. You'll need a socket wrench with extension and 1/2" and 9/16" sockets. Since your bike is still very new the old muffs should not be "frozen" in place yet; loosen the muff bolts, then the clamps, then pull off the stock muffs - you may have to "tap" them with a mallet or hammer to get them moving but once started they're easy to pull off by hand. Once you have the old stockers off I highly recommend checking the bolts/nuts that secure the muff support arm to the tranny - mine were loose right off the showroom floor, so I re-tightened with a little loctite. Also suggest checking the torque on the header pipe nuts also. Loosely install new muff clamps to your Rushes (or if you're feeling lucky reuse your old muff clamps) then slide them onto your headers, loosely install the muff bolts, line everything up, then torque all fasteners to specs. Wipe the new muffs clean of any oils or packing grease, fire up the motor and enjoy!

as said a little tough to get the stock ones off, then just bolt them on. you are going to love them.

I helped put these same slipons on my ex'husbands' 2010 WG. Was a piece of cake - and neither of come close to having any mechanical ability. I do recommend new clamps only because even though his bike only has a few 100 miles on it, the piece of mind is definitely worth it. Just pay attention to how you take them off and you'll be able to replace them. Make sure you check the support arm - as O-town D says - ours was also VERY loose.
On the other side, you are going to really enjoy the Rush. Has a nice sound but not screaming loud. If you WOT on it, they sound awesome. ENJOY and GOOD LUCK!!

I took my factory mufflers off to do some "modifying" and they were a pain to pull off after 600 miles lol think they make sure they are stuck on from the factory

Default Additional question

Hey guys, I'm in the same boat here...have a 2011 Dyna Super Glide. I'm putting on the Rush 2.0's and fairly certain I can do the install. My question is, Harley is wanting to charge me $220.00 to adjust the motor with the Rush pipes, is this necessary or will they be fine? as is... Have the factory AC...thanks

Ride safe
