Ok, so I'm thinking I'm gonna purchase a 2010 Street Bob here shortly and one of the first things I want to do is put a set of V&H Short Shots staggered in black... however, is there anything I need to be aware of? I'm guessing there will have to be some adjustments in air flow or something? Sorry if this is too rudimentary a question, but I prefer to do things with my own hands... never afraid to ask that proverbial "dumb"question (since I don't believe in dumb questions)... Thanks.
When I put my V&Hs on, I also got the FuelPak from them as well. Figured I'd stay with what V&H had. Others have used a Power Commander or something else.
Thanks... exactly what I needed to hear... didn't want to have to fork out cash to HD do this for me when it's something I can do reasonably for myself.
I've always been told pipes or ac and the factory computer will be fine but when you do both adjustment is required. Harley download is another option adjusts the stock computer. I also read on another thread that if you have motor or efi problems and you have aftermarket fuel system the factory will not warranty repairs. With that in mind I myself am considering Harley se or the Harley download over fuel pak, power commander etc...
Apparently, the main restriction to getting air through the engine is the air cleaner and unless you change that you won't need to change the programing, the factory settings will work. If you look at Harley's website they have power curve comparisons between stock and SE slip-ons and stock and SE air cleaners and reprogramming. There isn't any power increase with just the new slip-ons but is when you add the air cleaner. So, if you don't want to spend the money now then only changing the pipes will not require any type of reprogramming. The only changes to the engine I will ever make was the SE slip-ons and the SE air cleaner so I went with the Harley re-flash for $150. I am very pleased with the results. Now the only things I spend money on are seats, bags, chrome etc., etc.

Yeah i heard, that but now there is a law or something stating is the only way they can void your warrenty. Is if they can prove the after market caused it. Not saying they could just lie. But who knows, but i am going with the thundermaxx wit auto tune.

When anyone tells you it will void the warranty, tell them to put that in writing, see what they do then. As bubblegutz eluded to, the law says differently. They cannot void the warranty, they can deny paying for a repair IF they can prove the mod actually caused the problem.
