Question 5000 mile service

Going to give my bike its 5000 mile service myself, 09 fxdc, is there anything I should look out for that's not in the normal service.

Not really. Just be real thorough when you go through the list. Check for loose fittings, spokes, fasteners, etc.

All the service items are spelled out in your owners manual. Looking through that will give you an idea what tools/supplies you'll need. Search here for threads dealing w/ minimizing the oil filter mess....

also recommend taking and making a few notes about what you did and keeping receipts just in case a warranty issue ever comes up.

Same as you, i won,t pay their price for something i can do myself. As said, follow the manual and there,s nothing difficult about it, as long as you have the tools and half reasonable ability. It also gives an added ownership feeling of "my bike" about it. An added bonus being you can pick your own oils...as discussed to death on here.LOL
