Default First post, quick question

Hey guys, I've been lurking this board off and on for a few weeks and finally decided to register, so hello. Down to buisness, I want to put some 12" or 12.5" apes on my bob, and if possible would like to avoid spending all the extra cash on new cables. Has anyone been able to put taller bars on their bobs without changing out all the cables?

I believe you wont have to change your cables. But i am sure you will get a definitive answer soon cause i know somebody on here has just done what you want to do.

I too can't help you... but I can welcome you. I just spent the day putting shorter Barnett cables on my FXDWG. Good luck and have fun!

Try a search on 12 inch apes:

I found this in reference to your question

"Put these on today, and didnt have to change any cables or line. Basically all i did was switch the grips and controls from the stockers to the new ones! I did have to undo the brake line and straighten it, but thats was it. Pics coming as soon as my wife gets home and downloads them....FYI...i have brand new cables that i will sell....+6 cluctch, +4 throttle and idle!"

heres a link for the bars......http://stores.ebay.com/Kingpin-Cycle...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum!!

Gilby...welcome to the forum. Now, if I'm not mistaken, and I don't think I am, your Bob comes stock with 12" apes. Therefore, if you change them out for a different brand of apes you should still be fine with your stock lines and cables.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback I was told by my dealer that it came stock with 10's, but I'll do some more research on that just to be sure. I will probably be ordering bars tonight or tomorrow so I will post pics when all is said and done!
