Default slider cap screw size

I'm wanting to take my fork sliders off to change to the seals and get the sliders chromed. When i went to take the slider cap off to pull the axle, I couldn't figure out what size hex wrench to use. 5.5 mm too big and 5mm too small. 7/64 is too big and 3/32 too small. Anyone else run into this? Looked on sears website and don't see a 5.25 mm wrench. the repair manual says the nuts are metric.

They should be 5mm and if undamaged a 5mm hex bit will work. I had the same situation last year. Soak them in P'Blaster Penetrant. Then strip the head out until you can force a 5.5mm or 6 mm hex bit in there and you'll be able to get them out. A 3/8" hand-held impact wrench also helps. They should come out pretty quick. Sears also sells "screw outs" which will also do the job (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00952154000P). However, use the P'Blaster penetrant. That stuff made a believe out of me - it works so well (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ntifier=515413)
