WTF over!...did my 5k service this weekend and the manual says oil with a filter 3.0 qts. Wrong!! put three quarts in 'er and it was way over full (by about 1/2 qt or a little more)[&o]. That was after riding up and down the street for abt 15 mins. Yeah, I did get all the oil out of it, tried every trick, rocked, and tipped the bike bake and forth till no more oil came out.

Has anyone else run into this, or maybe I didn't get it all out. Whaddya think??

 

Accoeding to the manual, you did a 'wet' oil change where you only need 2.5 quarts. A dry oil change is when you take the engine apart then put it back together and fill it up with 3 quarts. There is a pump or suction device to remove all the oil out but you need to check the oil amount carefully when adding new oil after a drain. I tilted my bike also but I couldn't get all the oil out even after it sat for a 1/2 hour almost straight up.

Get a turkey baseter(?) and remove what you need to remove or go the dollar store and get a new tin pan large enough to hold the oil and refill.

 

thanks, I'll know next time. I drained a little out the messy way, trying to put the drain plug back in with oil coming out is quite tricky. I got it at the correct level now. Live and learn they say.

 

i almost missed that part about 2.5 qts in there as well. That turkey baster is handy.
