OK, so I've been back and forth on the bar setup I want to do for my Fat Bob. I just can't make up my mind on whether to go with tall risers and Night Rod style bars OR Apes of the RSD style. BR Customs can make the RSD style at whatever rise I want. I would like to have a total of about 10 inches of rise. Any pros or cons to either setup. If they both are at the same height, is it really just a looks thing. Opinions welcomed.
PS: the two bikes in the picture are other forum members bikes so I hope I don't pi$$ them off by using their bikes. BTW: the bike with the RSD's I have modified (graphically) and lowered them in the picture. You can see the original mirrors above the ones I lowered.
Either would probably look good. One plus with Apes, is you can loosen the riser top clamp and push them forward, and pull them back to adjust them for better comfort. One thing I've found is when you're trying to decide on height, always go a bit taller than what you first think would be right.
bike on the left, absolutely no question. That thing looks great. who's is it,? I'd like to see more pics of it.. With that setup you can use different bends if you need more/less width, pullback, height etc. To me apes look silly, funky position, too wide just horrible.

What's considered too wide? Mine are only 28" grip end to grip end.
Having had both, apes are still my first choice for 10" or more. I switched to 8" T-bars because I was having issues with my hands. I had about 16" total rise from the trees and was experiencing sleepy hands way too frequently. Figured it was an age thing, but with the T-bars the problem is gone.
I really miss the look and comfort of the apes, but have grown to like the T-bars.
Go with the apes, they look the best.
