Thanks for the input guys... I was really leaning towards the apes and then started second guessing myself. Apes it is!

Going with apes because of all the reasons already posted, I just got tired of the adjustability of the drag bar

Apes are the way to go. BR customs makes some schweet bars. I've been looking into them, but I think I've landed on some Todd's Cycle Fatbob bars in chrome on 1.5 inch risers, for a total of 14.5 inches. Thanks for that to Animalnoll, who has them on his blacked out FB. His bike IMO is on of the best looking Fat Bob's on the forum.

I have yet to contact Bill from BR, so I might do that and see where the price falls. From what I've gathered, it's gonna be north of 800 bucks for the parts either way, maybe more if I go with a custom fet from BR. I've been trying to find good quality cables for a good price, but they don't seem to exist. You're getting close to 400 just for the cables if you want high quality/slick looks.

Why aren't you happy with your Street Slammers anymore, Eric?

I like the Street Slammers, but they just don't have the look I'm wanting to achieve. Coming from an off road background...I like the aggressive feel of them but looking for a change. I just don't want to get something too tall and not feel like I have the same control.

Yeah that's my only concern too, but I have read a TON of threads on here about guys that switched to apes, and not a single one of them had a complaint about it after the swap. That's good enough for me .

One thing I'd keep in mind, is the width of the bottom bar. IMO, to keep the lines clean and consistent, you have to have the bottom bar of the apes to be close to the same width as the the trees. Our trees are about 12 inches wide. Obviously, if you go with BR customs bars, you can have him make it whatever size you want, but watch for that if you get a set of pre-manufactured ones. Food for thought.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out!

I'm going with apes on my WG. Risers that are too tall just look stupid IMO. I've been debating it also between the two and if I were to get risers they wouldn't exceed over 4". It just looks unnatural if its taller than that.
BTW, I like the rear fender on the bike with the risers. Is there a specific name for a fender like that?

I went from 8" t-bars to the 16" santee bonanza 2's (like the rsd's but a better angle for the hands).

So far, its the best mod i've done (haven't taken more than a 30 or so mile trip yet tho).

And i'm 6'3" with a 76" reach if that helps any. And my hands are just below shoulder height, very comfy.

Hope that helps ya!
