Default What happened?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went riding with a friend over the weekend. He was in the lead on his 89' Lowrider when the bike started to miss and eventually quit running. The headlight was still lit but dim when the ignition switch was in the "on" position but the battery didn't have enough power to crank the engine. We were able to get the engine to crank after a charger was on it for a while. Is this a charging system failure? Couldn't find any other obvious problems.

Sure sounds like the charging system to me. Did it die again after riding it a while after the charge? If so, I'd definately suspect charging.

Sounds like the charging system. with the motor running and lites on a volt meeter on the battery terminals should read around 14 volts

it could be corrorded connections on the battery or elsewhere

How old is the battery, you could charge it again and see wait the voltage drop is when cranking. It sould not be below 9 volts fi lower the battery is bad or you have a starter that is going out. Check all the wire connection from ground and on the starter.

Just found out that it was the voltage regulator.
