I am considering purchasing used shocks off of e-bay for my 2007 DWG...would like to lower the bike a little...in my cross referencing I see that replacment shocks will fit my 07 DWG as well as an 09 Street Bob that I am considering purchasing the stock shocks off of..anyone had any experince doing this sort of swap...the street bob shocks are listed as being lower that my dwg.
Parts swapping belongs in Classifieds, not the General forums, please.
Izzo, his post was a little vague, but i don't think he was asking to swap as much as asking for details or insight from someone who already has - I think. At least that's how it came across to me.
The forum police must have been issued quota's this year.

saints, yes I have experience at shock swapping.
do you have specific questions on this operation??
Street Bob shocks will bolt right up. Go for it. Actually, any dyna shocks will work, just a matter of knowing what models come stock with what lengths. The SB shocks should be a little over a half inch shorter than stock wide glide shocks if I'm not mistaken.
To the O/P. I think its a mistake to buy used OEM shocks. They are crappy Asian shocks to start out with and buying a used set is a crap shoot. All you know about them is that the previous owner liked them so much he replaced them with something else. If your dead set on cheapy shocks, at least buy a new set of Asian knockoffs for 80 bucks on ebay. You'll know they are new. Otherwise step up and buy a set of Progressive 412's or Ultima's. They are much better than stockers or Asian knockoffs and come in every length you could want, all for about 200 bucks. High end shocks like Works are awesome but cost a bundle. With all the options for brand new shocks, your doing yourself a serious disservice with used takeoffs.
