Default Cam Sound

One of the things that made buying a new cam for our hotrods back in the day was the sound of the radical idle you'd get from one. You knew the car was badass if it had "that idle".

Does a new cam on a bike give you a different sounding idle? I know it's about changing the power band but I'd like to hear the difference too.

You'll only hear that "lope" from a carbed bike.

Mike i do not agree with that at all bud, i have andrews 37 cams in my bike and people know right away that it has a cam in it from the sound... NIGHT and day diff from stock, i can tell just from a bike idol if it is cam'd or not. I do not see how fuel injected over carbed would affect the sound that a very lobed out cam would have

I agree with joe .
You can hear a cammed bike for sure.. And you can still mess with the idle with the right tuner.

I have an 09 Fat Bob, obviously injected. I would assume that Mike is of the opinion that it's harder to hear the cam since the injected bike idles faster but you should still be able to hear the difference between a stock cam and a HP cam. You would think anyway. Right?

It will be noticeable but not like a hot rod.

I don't know about the sound, but its sure a lot faster now. I have a $300 speeding ticket to prove it.

260 SE Cams and EFI. A lot of other motor work but I think the lobe is noticeable.

ooh ya completely agree with you on that, it is near impossible to get that super lobed out sound on a bike where it sounds like it will stall amost from the lift... love that sound!
