Ok, I didn't lossen the strut to attach, It attaches on the bottom where the chrome belt guard attaches out of the way, all leather straps three of them two up top and one at the bottom very stable. Yes I did get the extra 1". The floor boards are from 2 Orange Harley. http://2orangeharleys.com/index.php?cPath=5_45
How is it possible to install these bags without loosening the strut? As can be seen in the 1st pic, the top strap closest to the shock is easy to do without loosening the strut as is can go around the strut near the grab strap of the seat. But how can the top/rear strap go around the strut without loosening it? Unless perhaps my strut attachment to the fender is different due to my quick-detach sissy bar setup which required the rear turn signals to be relocated as seen in the 2nd pic. Oh... and I do have the chrome plug for the hole in the strut.
Anyway, the strut seems to attach in the front where the sissy bar would mount with a hex bolt. I turned that sombitch over and over, but the strut never came away from the fender. I was hoping to slide the back strap of the bag down the strut as I don't want to mess with the rear turn signal which is where I have to assume the other strut mounting point is.
Suggestions?
