its been many a moon since i've been on here, a little has changed since i've been gone (home page mainly). But it looks like all the old regulars are still here, which is a good thing!
With that said, i'm looking to upgrade my rear (for now) suspension, thanks uncle sam! I'm looking for some good quality shocks, but i dont want to sell my first born. so im looking in the $500-800(ouch) range, i feel that gives me good compromise between performance and value. i'm also looking for 11.5 or 12 inch. like the low look, but love the twisties! also looking for the black or contrast cut style shocks. also i do mostly solo riding, 260 lbs weight. but i do a bit a two-up, 80:20.
ok whats everyone running with all my criteria in mind? progressive? ohlins? ricor? works?
I am in the same boat trying to figure out what to get If you stay stock 12" I have been chatting with progressive and that say the 430 are the go to dyna shocks . they do come in the black contrast . I want my bike lowered so the 430 only come 11" or 12" so still deciding if 440 in 11.5 is the shock for me Or the 11" 430s
Good Luck
I have the 430s on mine and they are great. Get the H(heavy duty ones and I went for the 12". Never bottomed out and have taken 2 trips to Florida on them from SC and NC.
You will dig them!
Wont break the bank either.
Talk to Howard at Motorcycle Metal. http://www.motorcyclemetal.com/
He can get you set up with some Ohlins dialed in to your riding style and I'm sure you can stay within your budget. My experiences with Progressive fell far short of the Ohlins.
Thanks for the advice thus far! I've been reading a lot of good thing about the ohlins and motorcycle metal. Everyone seems to have great experiance with both companies.
Judging by motorcycle metals website, it looks like ohlins #2 are the only ones in my price range.
I went with the Ricor shocks and they are absolutely great!
They are build for your weight and riding style and look very good.
I really love the way my bike handles now!
I have the 430s and they look great. Dealer accidentally ordered the HD which is way oversprung for my 175lbs so they are swapping them out for the standards this weekend.

RICORS for the performance/$. Cant beat the technology these guys use. But Howard is pretty dandy also.
I had the 440's for years before switching to Ohlins last spring. It's a great shock, custom built for your weight and riding style, and vastly improves the handling and comfort. If you can swing the Ohlins, you'll be glad you did, and Howard at motorcyclemetal.com was great to work with.
