Any recommendations for good quick detach hardware for saddlebags? My bike has a quick detach for the passenger backrest, so it needs to be compatible with that. Kuryakyn has a system that looks like it will work, but I'd like to hear other's experience.
I also had the hd detachable backrest and easy brackets for bags. I hated the way all the detachable hardware looked when off the bike, probable stuck out 1.5" or more. Got rid of the hd stuff and am just rocking easy brackets. I went with a haulen *** backrest when i need it.
The way the hd qd is designed, one larger mount for back and smaller in front. I had to bend and grind my bag brackets to fit in the easy brackets. Then when i ditched them i had to unbend the brackets. Just food for thought
i use edge brackets on mine and my sissy bar. works great!
Threadjack: Since I can't find a PM option around here, just wanted to say hey to a fellow CLSBer. I saw your powercoat build on that blue bike over on the other forum and just wanted to say hey. I go by Muddy over on the other board.
I really like the mounting hardware concept Boss Bags uses. Wish there was a way to incorporate that on my HD bolt-on bags!! Anyone know of anything similar?
I went to the Edge Bracket site. I like the looks of that, and it's a lot cheaper than buying a whole new set of saddlebags. I like my HD bags, I just want to be able to take them into a motel room with me. I also saw an add on that allows the installation of a HD QD backrest, but there weren't any photos to show how it worked.
