Default 200mm 55 VR17 on a 07 FXD Super Glide.

First I want to give credit and thanks to Crapr6, Man4Mopar, Treeextractor, NoLongerAmember and Norris for the info they provided regarding their 200mm Dyna Threads, they provide a wealth of information and all were responsive to my questions. Thanks!
I am including links to their threads later as they proved invaluable to me as I was researching and executing this project.
There is a load of info regarding this mod available, its just difficult to get it all in one place for a specific make and model of machine, There are several ways to accomplish this and the measurements variable to some degree, there is some variance between models in all the 200mm threads, what works for some will not work for others, I once had an older gentleman tell me “Some people can make it work, and some people cant”, truer words have never been spoken.
I am not going into the fender clearance aspect of this as I installed a Fat Bob Fender and added a Pirelli 180 on my stock wheel awhile back so I didn’t and don’t have any clearance issues.
I installed on a 2007 FXD Super Glide and this is how I did it.
For this project I installed a 06 Night Train Softail 17 x 6 Rear Wheel onto my 07 FXD Super Glide. NT Hub measures 7 7/16” (7.375)
The NT wheel had Ύ” Wheel bearings so I replaced them with 1” HD9247 Bearings.
I also had to change the Ύ” axle sleeve to a 1”.
If any one knows of a HD part number 1” axle sleeve 5 5/8” (5.625) long I would like to add it to this information just for reference.
I had a piece of pipe in stock so I cut it to the same length as the one I took out 5 5/8” (5.625) long, you could use two of the stock Dyna Axle sleeves PN: 43517-00 if you cut one down.
The rotor side wheel bearing must be installed first, I pressed the rotor side wheel bearing all the way into the wheel, it has to bottom out because this is what keeps everything on the brake side spaced correctly, this spacing put the rotor exactly in the center of the caliper and no other modification needs to be done on this side. Others have had issues with the valve stem clearance, I had no problems.
One of the other threads mentions the wheel cannot be installed or removed with the rotor bolted on, it’s very much like a puzzle.
You must get the wheel in place, get the spacer, rotor and caliper into position while installing the axle thru the whole thing, once you get to this point you can install a bolt thru the rotor and snug it up to the wheel, it all comes together pretty easy, I did it by myself and it was interesting, I suggest you bring a friend.
The pulley side took some experimentation the stock pulley side spacer is 2 1/8” (2.125”) long, I cut mine to 1.5”.
The Stock FXD 66T Pulley PN: 40374-07 hub side where it contacts the wheel hub had to be cut down 7/16” (.4375”), this is the bare minimum, and I could have gone as much as 3/4” (.75”) as there is .5” clearance between the tire and belt now on mine.
UPDATE: I had the pulley machined another 3/16” (.1875”) for a total of 5/8” (.625”)
I’ll have to replace the pulley bolts because since the pulley has been machined they go deeper into the wheel and require the threads go further onto the bolt, I just used washers for the moment.
UPDATE: I replaced the bolts with 7/16” x 2” Bolts.
I also changed the brake pads out while I had it apart as I didn’t want to have to go there again for awhile.
The machine work cost me $25.
The wheel cost me $165 shipped (I got the wheel on Ebay for $102, the shipping is what jacked the cost up), I cleaned it up and painted the inner part black.
Pirelli Night Dragon 200mm 55 VR17 $150.
Wheel Bearings $66 Pair.
Brake Pads PN: 44082-00 $50.
Total cost of this project was approx $450.

The wheel is centered in the fender,
Approximately 3/32” (.09375”) clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper, there is also .5” clearance off the brake line.
There is .5” between the belt and tire, .25” between the swing arm and the pulley.
The belt rides on the primary pulley exactly where it did stock with approx 3/16" clearance to the outside
The belt guards fit.
It looks and rides great!

It looks good, I have a 200 on my Fatbob and I think that size is just right.

I was able to use my stock '07 pulley on the '08 Fat Boy 6in wheel. No mods to the pulley but had to mod the brake caliper bracket. Caliper bracket was changed some in '08 or '09 on Dyna's.

How is this project holding up? I am planning on trying this on my 2014 FXDL

Commenting on this old thread because it is a great info source.

I followed your write up & did this mod on my 08 last week. everything fits just like your on the pulley side, but the brake rotor rubs the brake caliper bracket mount. Did you have this problem?

I'm wondering if I can just add a shim or washer in between the brake side spacer & the caliper mount on the axle.
