I'm looking to put a 09 fatboy rear wheel (43596-09) on my 06 standard. Has anyone tried this or know, for sure, if it will work. I know it's the same dimension. And that the axle and bearing are not the same size but those are relatively easy fixes. What about the brake rotor offset? They use different calipers so I wasn't sure if that changed rotor offset.
I added an 07 and up wheel to the rear of my 06' train. I had to get a 3/4" bearing kit, shorten the axle spacer on the rotor side and lengthen the belt side by 3/8". Also had to add a 3/8" pulley spacer behind the pulley. Got the bearing kit from HD and the axle and pulley spacers from here http://vulcanworks.net/store/Pulley-...ction=0&page=2
Take measurements from rim to swingarm insides, take measurements from pulley and rotor to swing arm insides on existing wheel. Place new wheel inside swingarm and center on your measurements then do the math for rotor and pulley spacers. I used the same tire so I also measured corner of tire sidewall to inside of fender.
It's done. And in case anyone is interested in doing something similar here's some detail on what it took.
I went with the 25mm bearing kit for the 09 wheel.
Ordered reducers from http://vulcanworks.net/store/Wheel-B...mm-to-3-4.html
Got axle spacers from the same place: 1/8" longer on belt side (ordered 1.5")
1/4" shorter on rotor side (ordered 1/4")
1/4" pulley spacer
