Please don't strip it down like so many do. It's basically a Super Glide Sport (FXDX) with hard bags, boards, engine guard, windshield, taller bars, and some other things. I would love to find a clean one. So many guys find a clean one then lower it, mount forwards, and strip it of bags, W/S, etc. What a waste.
BTW- the '01 is a great year.
That is such a good point and we do see this alot where someone has the chance to get a somewhat of a classic model of Harley and they strip and rip it till it looks like a West Coast style bike....so sad.
Leave the relics to those who have a better appreciation and would work towards retaining the originality, is what I say.
Our local PD still has a couple that they use for escorts from time to time or when the normal bikes are in the shop. Otherwise they ride newer EGlides.
