I'm trying to find what air filter kit I have I believe it would be considered stage 2? The air filter is round says harley davidson on it and is a dry cloth filter says do not oil. Also says harley davidson air cleaner covers only and I have a football aircleaner cover that is open in the back. So this is a harley davidson stage 2 kit I guess? Can I wash the filter? Final question is what part number is the k&n filter for this? I hope this is enough info
The problem is that there is no real definition of what stage-2 is for air cleaners. Vaguely, a stage-1 A/C is one that flows enough to match a more open exhaust. Equally vaguely, a stage-2 A/C is one that flows enough for an open exhaust and some higher lift cams. There's no numbers out there for either in terms of CFMs.
Most aftermarket A/Cs (other than fashion accessiories) flow enough for stage-1, especially if they take some flavor of a K&N filter. If you have a stage-2+ engine then you just need to think about something a bit fatter.
Stage 1 is not stock as was mentioned earlier, it will flow more then enough air for a stock motor. Do not wash the "no oil" air filter. Get yourself the k&n 0800 filter it is a much better setup and will bolt right up to your AC plate. You can wash and oil the 0800.
