ANOTHER cracked exhaust pipe.
samson was great again, they sent out a new pipe, and i sent my cracked pipe back to them for them to look at and hopefully research. so again a big thank you to samson for the way they've handled this situation twice now. nice to see good customer service when that's quickly becoming a thing of the past.
the only reason i noticed the pipe was cracked in the first place was that i had taken the heat shield off to measure my pipe to order some new baffles.
once the pipe was discovered, i brought the bike to the shop, left it there for them to take up the beef with samson, and when the baffles came in, i brought them to the shop figuring i'd just have them install the new pipe, install the baffles, and throw the bike on the dyno to remap it wiht the new baffles all in one shot.
picked the bike up yesterday. first thing i noticed was the big increases in sound people talk about with bct baffles wasn't there. i rode the bike for around 100 miles, and then headed home.
realized the bct baffles were only installed an inch or so into the end of my pipes, and upon further inspection, weren't in the pipe at all, but were bolted into my heat shields
so, fed up at this point, i pulled everything apart.
they didn't take the stock samson baffles out to install the bct's. they just bolted the bct baffles in butt up against the samsons, put the bikeon the dyno and tuned it wiht both baffles in.
WTF.
i took out both baffles and installed the bct's as per bct's instructions, which i planned to do from the beginning.
so now i have a bike tuned for double baffles (don't get that at all) that i can't start up until tomorrow when i can get to harley and pick up some new exhaust gaskets so i don't even know how it's gonna run or if i'll need to go back and have it re-tuned.
sorry for the long read.
On second thought, don't do that. Bring the bike back to him and point out what a dumb, stupid, idiotic thing they did AND charged you for it to boot.
Hope it works out.
