I didn't expect this many positive comments. Thanks guys. A buddy of mine keeps telling me how stupid it looks. And I tell him how stupid he looks.
Anyway...Plasti-Dip is a rubber coating that comes in a liquid or an aerosol. The liquid is perfect for literally dipping things into (I did my clutch and front brake levers, among other things). The aerosol works like spray paint, but is very very very very forgiving. I have yet to make it run on anything I've sprayed it on, plus it self-levels, and fill gaps. It's an amazing product. You can dip the handles of your wrenches, or waterproof electronics, or use it as a matte rubber finish, or whatever. It even comes in different colors.
The shield is pretty functional, given its small size. It creates a nice little low pressure zone right in front of my chest, which reduces fatigue. However, it does nothing to provide wind deflection at my head, which is ok by me (I have a Rio Grande for when I want the extra protection). I'm guessing it will help deflect bugs too, but they haven't been bad enough out here yet to tell for sure.
I got the Memphis Shades trigger lock mounting kit from Dennis Kirk along with a Rio Grande windshield a while back. The mounts will work for any MS sportshields. I reverse mounted them so that the shield sits closer to the bars. The bars are Drag Specialties 1-1/4" drags, and the risers are Paughco dog bones (slightly modified).
