I appreciate that, Jayson. I do have my smarta$$ moments, but that wasn't one of them.

So, is that was a TH looks like brand new? lol Mine looks like it's been run through the mill. I don't know if the finish has gotten any better, but mine started rusting from where the two headers come into the collector, back towards the heads about 10". It almost looks like they've modified the pipe a bit to allow a little more space in between the two pipes. Mine touch and that may be why they rusted out. Not even any room to get in there to wire brush it off.

Anyway, looks good JoJo. Did you already wrap the headers? Maybe give 'em (the wrap) a coat of black. The white, along with the chrome, along with a black bike kind of doesn't fit. Just a suggestion and you can tell me to go scratch.

Feel better. I remember having the flu once back in the 02/03. Knocked me on my butt for a week.

You know what? That was supposed to be black wrap. Never again will I buy Accel brand wrap. Two issues. First, It lost almost all it's black dye during installation, most of it ended up on my work table, the rest ended up on my arms and clothes. Second, It was two 25' rolls. When you wrap it and pull it tight, it goes from 2.5" wide, to maybe 2" wide if you're luck. That was all the wrap that was in the package! Turned out good though because the wrap ends just under the footpeg.

I kinda like the look of the faded black, I think it fits in with the flat denim paint.

Also, went and got the bike remaped today and bought an Arlen Ness Big Sucker kit. I'm really happy with it now, it actually sounds like a motorcycle.

First, I installed the pipe. Then, I went to the dealer and had them do the stage flash. I did learn something... According to the dealer, all they actually do is flash the ECU into thinking it's a 103". It helps with the lean condition but doesn't really maximize power. Regardless of whether or not he's selling wolf tickets, I could care less if it actually maximizes power.

While they were flashing the ECU, I went into parts and they just happened to have an Arlen Mess Big Sucker (Sucker for spending that much on on a crappy part). I rode the bike home and installed the AN Big Sucky kit. Apparantly, I bought a kit that was assembled on national "Get Drunk at Work Day". The holes for the air filter were so far off, I didn't even need to hold it up to the mounting to see it was wrong.

So I hop in my oh-so-fuel-efficient Dodge Ram, and drive my happy butt back down to the local dealer. I explain my situation and I also tell that that I understand it's not their fault. They stepped up to the plate and took care of me. Gave me a nice K&N with the correct bolt pattern. My other option was to wait until Tuesday to get an Arlen Stress air filter(fool me twice? No.)

After a nice long drive through traffic back to my house, I installed it. Needless to say, I am very happy with the results. Aside from a noticeable loss of torque off the line during normal driving, the bike rips. I could probably get a little more out of it by getting a race tuner, but again, I really don't care that much. It looks good, it sounds good, it still gets good mileage(I'll report back after the first tank), and it sounds really really really good.

Totall costs...
$574 Thunderheader with Accel wrap (free shipping)
$150 Arlen Mess Big Sucky
$20 gas for go back and forth to the damn dealer
$180 for the 103" flash from the dealer
TOTAL=$924 for a big huge ear to ear smile every time I ride my bike... A good deal IMHO.

A stage 1 download for $180? Wow, they charged you about $30 over what the normal price is.

I've never heard of one that "tricks the ecu into thinking it's a 103". You sure they aren't blowing smoke...?

Does the bike run better with the download?

They said it was $150 for the flash, and $50 for labor, then I had a 15% discount card. I don't feel completely raped by that though. It feels faster... Seems to rev higher. I couldn't tell you though for sure. As long as it doesn't blow up on me, I'm ok with it. They guy at the service counter seemed very friendly and knowledgeable, had alot of bad things to say about t-headers, but seemed to know what he was talking about. He said that the ECU will now think it's a 103" and compensate with more fuel. He said it wasn't a perfect fix, but it's better than running lean.

All that's important is that you feel you got a good deal.
