I believe that is a false statement about the tc88 being crap. There are some things that harley has done lately that need to be fixed but im sure in time they will. I have no problem with my laced wheels i have just never adjusted them and am looking for some help. From what ive read the tc88 is a much better engine than the evo and it is capable of way more upgrading than the evo. I remembewhen the evo came out and i had my shovel, nobody liked the evo and made the same kind of statements you just did. I dont have a bad thing to say about my tc88 and am very happy with it thus far.
I have a situation where all spokes came loose on the rear of a 2008 Ultra Touring at 3,900 miles. Caused crash. Serviced at proper intervals. I would appreciate further contact to discuss your loose spoke situation. My email is kennethj53202@hotmail.com.
I brought my sportster in to have new tires put on the tech showed me where some of the spokes were loose and recommended checking them every 5000 miles or so. I had no idea being a newbie and all so he tightened em and trued my wheels picking bike up in the am. Better to be lucky than good I suppose
Ting them with screw driver. if any go thud there loose. I believe torque spec for spokes on my Dyna are 55" lbs. There's a video out on line on how to torque them so the rim stays true. Start at the valve stem, mark with a piece of tape. Do every fourth spoke, move the tape to the next spoke, do every fourth spoke etc, etc.
Here's another 'use' to spending some time cleaning our bikes. Every time I clean my bike, I use that time to check for loose fasteners (and a few beers). That includes doing the 'tink' test on the spokes. I just listen for any spoke that is different sounding. So far, the stock wheel/spokes sounds like it's 'in tune'.
2012 flstc I have a little over 11,000 on it now just had my 3rd rear rim put on the bike. HD promised me I will not have anymore problems with it. If I do they will put Mags on it for free.
