Hey guys...wondering if any of you have tried the below, or might know the answer. My dealer and the HD customer care line couldn't give me a definitive answer, and it's a lot of money to spend on a hunch...
I have a '10 FXDWG, but I replaced the headlamp assembly with the HD 5-3/4" Bullet Headlamp Kit (part# 68593-06) when I bought the bike. I LOVE this new HD Black LED Headlamp that just came out (part# 67700043). Brighter light, safer, and the blacked out assembly will look cool on my mostly blacked out front end.
My question is whether this new LED headlamp will fit into the Bullet kit assembly? I suspect it will, as both are 5-3/4", both are HD accessories, and the description of the Black LED kit states "lamp assembly mounts into existing light housings. Installation is quick and easy, and the plug-in lamps connect to the factory headlamp wiring. No external ballast or complicated wire harness is required."
My bike is not listed as compatible, but that makes sense since the original equipment on the bike was a different size. Have any of you tried this, or replaced the internal lighting assembly on the 5-3/4" Bullet Headlamp Kit with some other lighting element? All I know is that the bulbs are replaceable, but not sure about the entire lighting element.
I may be wrong but I think that it's designed to fit in the stock headlight bucket. I looked at the led lamp and it looks like it takes a headlight ring to hold it into place. I maybe wrong but your best bet would be visit the dealer and put it up against a stock light to see how it mounts.
Yep, if they have any in stock. They don't always have a lot of the more expensive accessories in local stock, but we'll see. The instruction sheet for the bullet kit does show that the lighting assembly can be replaced as a whole, but yeah, your point about whether a headlight ring is required--or if the small internal one that is built into the bullet kit--is enough.
I have the HD LED headlight in my stock Street Bob headlight assembly. It fits without modification even though the HD says it will not. It is very bright and the beam pattern and cutoff is really sharp. I get compliments on it all the time.

I just did some searches myself for an LED headlight for my '07 FXD Superglide and came up empty. Specs say up to 2005. Hate to order a $400 headlight and have it not fit. That HD video of it really sold me on getting one.
I emailed Latus Motors HD with my querry.
Thanks for the info.

You probably have the same 5 3/4" housing that the Street Bob has. If so, it will fit. I can take closer photos for you if you like to compare my housing to yours. HD and the dealers told me it would not fit. I called BS on them and bought it anyway, figuring I would just simply return it if it really did not fit. As I suspected, it fit perfectly and actually frees up some room in the housing because it is not as deep as the stock headlight.

Also, I paid $326 at Zanotti's.
Some lady at Latus emailed me back today, something like "...it must not fit because of a wiring or fitment problem". Soo, I'm sure that she really looked into it.
My housing looks exactly like yours, for the best that I can tell, and I can't see why they would be any different.
Great photo of the bike and LED. I understand that it comes in a silver vs black insides as well. Any idea where I can get this? I have a 2009 Dyna FXDC and hope there is one to fit the bike. Sure would be nice having road visibility for a change. Let me know. Thx
