Default Heat Shields- Paint over Powder Coating?

I have a set of Rush Black Mufflers on my 2011 WG. I sent the heat shields out to be Powder Coated. They came back with a flat wrinkle finish. The Rush Mufflers have a semi-gloss to them. Could I use a High-temp semi-gloss paint over the Powder Coat? I would like better flow front to back on the exhaust system...

First, I want to say they look pretty good as they are. It breaks up the flow which gives them a better look. Second, why would you not look at the finish before you had someone put it on?

I sent them out and that was the way they came back. I thought it would look better with a gloss finish to match the mufflers. What do you think with this other photo posted?

Unless you're going to send everything to get powdercoated in the same way, any hi-temp paint won't match the muffs. So, they're always going to be different in some way. It would bug me, but I'd leave it as is.

From a distance and at first glance, it's all black.

My opinion is, i wished the mufflers looked the way the head pipe looks. since now the headpipe matches the ac. i like the black look. what did the powder cost ya for the headpipes. around 100 bucks?

Punch is right. Unless you get "everything" coated that goes together than it will always look differernt. Now that you see this, there is no way to avoid it. It would bother me fur sure. I think harley sells black heat shields to replace the stock. I believe they match the se slipons.

Still like the way they came out. Looks different than anyone else in a good way. I think you got lucky by the powder coater's mistake.

I still think they would look better if they had a gloss finish just like the Rush Mufflers. So has anyone painted their head pipes with Hi-temp Paint and does it hold up? I would like to go over the powder coat...
