No problem with the wrap. I painted mine & occasionally touch them up which is no big thing. No cracks or any other problems at all. Great look, great sound & with the tuner (dobeck EJK on mine) a noticeable improvement in the fun stuff. Yes they have heat shields under the wrap but they are still real hot. I also got the V&H "quiet" baffles which is kind of a misnomer but I guess they're slightly quieter than the baffles that come with the pipes. All in all, a great exhaust.

I ran into a major issue with my throw backs. The small heat shields on the back broke loose while riding down the highway. The holes for the screws had cracked and then just broke all the way through. So now I have a chunk of metal missing on both pipes from it. The wrap has held up well for a year.

Just ordered a set for my 2014 FXDB, thinking that I will paint in black as you did. Other than installing my AC and external breather kit, wrenching on my bike is still new to me. Any advice on installation (or removal of stock pipes)? Thanks for the follow up on the thread, I've been going back and forth on what pipes to get but think these will be great for the overall look and sound of the bike. Next to impossible to find specials on these, everyone seems to be the same price for model 41759, found an ebay seller for $480 but even that's not much off of MSRP oh well.

As for installation advice, just carefully follow the instructions, go slowly & don't tighten anything until it's all lined up. If you're going to paint them do that first. It's not difficult. Also, make any baffle changes before instal as its a bear to get them out afterward.
Received them today, took off the ends so that I could paint them. I also removed the stainless steel ties that came on them, probably shouldn't have done that. Do the lower ones fit under the chrome ends or should I slide them up past? I understand that the upper ones go close to the header.

New member here...I'm considering the throwbacks for my 2014 SB too, but I'd like the complete look better if you don't have to read 'Python' on the end cap...Does anyone know if the end caps are reversible and have just solid metal on the back-side (without a stamped Python logo)? Cheers.
FWIW, I did end up putting the quiet baffles in, although it makes only a slight difference. The pipes are fantastic and look great but they are loud to me (but not louder than any other short pipe or even some long ones).

I did run without the tips for a while after I painted the wrap, but then put them back on. I still can't decide which look I like best & may take them off again..
